Here at LoSasso, we offer our clients a full-service agency that addresses some of the most complex problems out there. For almost all of our clients that includes digital solutions. In fact, we have a whole team dedicated to digital planning, research and web development.

Today, one of our in-house web developers, Rob Grozdanovic, is here to give a preview of a day in the life a web developer. From building the back-end of landing pages and emails to finessing the front-end of how they look, Rob keeps us and our clients ahead of the game. If you’ve been asking yourself “what is the role of a web developer?” or just curious about what a typical day entails, take a look below!

7:00 a.m.: Wake up and get ready for the day.

7:35 a.m.: Drive to work. LoSasso offers free parking which is a pretty awesome perk here in Chicago.

8:10 a.m.: Arrive at work and get settled in. That usually includes checking my emails for the first time of the day, getting back to any urgent requests and organizing my daily tasks.

9:00 a.m.: Finally drink that first sacred cup of joe.

9:05 a.m.: Start programming the front-end of two major landing pages. One is part of a digital lead generation campaign for an agriculture client and the other is a newly designed CMS page for an association client. My job is to convert the design files from our creative team into functional HTML, so I tend to work pretty close with the designers.

12:00: Lunchtime — I go out to grab a bite to eat at one of my go-to spots, Rice ‘n Bread.

12:30 p.m.: Back to work for the second half of the day, working on those landing pages. As I complete them, I upload a test link of each page for the account and creative team to QA (or review) and make sure everything is looking good.

2:30 p.m.: There’s an opening in my schedule, so I program an email for the agency’s monthly Hit List series that goes out later this week.

3:45 p.m.: I get feedback from the team on the landing pages and work on troubleshooting some minor things. When I’m done, the account team sends the updated test link to the client for final approval and our digital marketing team gets the analytics set up for when the page goes live.

5:00 p.m.: Wrap up my work for the day and get ready for the gym.

8:00 p.m.: Finally get home and eat a late dinner while watching whatever sports game I can find on TV. If there’s nothing good on, I’ll usually play some PS4 to wind down for the day.

11:00 p.m.: Time for bed 💤

While this snapshot is a nice glimpse into a web developer career, it doesn’t give you the full picture of web developer duties and responsibilities here at LoSasso. So, what is the role of a web developer at LoSasso you ask again?

Well, they are an extension of the creative team, a partner of the account team and a core part of our web team. “Wow, that’s a lot,” you may be saying—and you’re right! Our web developers are responsible for turning client wishes into websites, emails, apps and other digital experiences. Sometimes that can mean modifying the code of an existing asset or troubleshooting an error. Other times it can mean designing and programming something entirely new, working hand-in-hand with art directors and copywriters.
