Have you ever wondered what is the role of an account manager?

Like many agencies, our account team is on the front lines working with our clients to manage timelines, budgets, projects and more. While they are the day-to-day client-facing team, account folks also work with our creative and web teams. Whether it’s kicking off a project, checking in on progress to ensure we’re on track or sharing client feedback after a presentation—they hold us all accountable.

To give you a better look at all our account team does, we’re sharing a day in the life of Senior Account Manager, Amanda Klapper. While every day for Amanda (and all of us) is different, this account super star is always on the go, just see for yourself below.

5:30 a.m.: Alarm goes off for the first time and I proceed to snooze at least three times, before forcing myself to get up and head to the gym.

6:15 a.m.: Run, run, run! I always feel so much better when I start the day off with a quick workout, and I’ve loved running ever since I can remember.

7:00 a.m.: Three miles later and it’s time to get ready for the day: shower, pack a quick lunch and brew a coffee to go. I’m pretty picky and can’t drink black coffee, so a splash of creamer is a must for me.

7:30 a.m.: Start the 25-minute walk to the office. I love that I live in the neighborhood and can easily walk when it’s nice out.

8:00 a.m.: Arrive at the office, power up my laptop and wade through numerous spam emails while looking for any important client emails. I love getting to the office before everyone to power through key things on my to-do list. Timelines, strategy decks and emails all get done way more quickly in that first hour of the day.

9:00 a.m.: Head to an internal status meeting for one of my clients. We run through the status doc with the creative and web teams to ensure everyone’s in the loop on key updates and hot projects in progress.

10:00 a.m.: Next is a client call to present new creative. Running up two flights of stairs to our meeting room always leaves me breathless—even after almost four years at LoSasso!

10:05 a.m.: My Account Executive starts the GoTo Meeting and luckily the client hasn’t joined yet. After the team arrives and the client joins, we set up the purpose of the call before turning over to the creative team to present. Luckily, the clients are loving the direction and we have a few minor tweaks that we recap coming out of the meeting. On to the next meeting—a regroup on another project!

12:15 p.m.: I was starving three hours ago and head to get my salad from the fridge. It’s always so tempting to just eat at my desk while working, but today I head out to the back deck for some vitamin D.

2:00 p.m.: One on one time! Head to my boss’ office (VP Account Director) and pull up my list of items to run through. Evernote is my best friend and I keep lists for everything. We talk about next steps for a few strategy and planning meetings coming up, ideas for the next account team outing and catch up from the weekend.

3:00 p.m.: I get a Skype from one of the AEs asking me to come look at a very quick timeline they are developing. I stop by and take a quick look to talk through what we hope is a happy balance for the clients and the creatives.

4:00 p.m.: Back at my desk for the rest of the day to crank out some things! I sort through emails that have come in throughout the day, prioritizing client emails first, and then jump to reviewing items my AE sent over. I save out and track changes, sending back comments and offering up a quick meeting to discuss the feedback.

6:00 p.m.: Head home! The walk always goes by quickly when I’m into a good podcast. Some of my recent favorites include Up and Vanished, Drop Out and Bear Brook. I have a weakness for true crime stories.

7:00 p.m.:  Typically, I try to eat a healthy, balanced meal of chicken and veggies, but my husband and I definitely have a slight pizza problem. Who doesn’t love a good ‘za and some cheese bread? After dinner and catching up on the day’s happenings, I’ll turn on a Bravo show (Housewives anyone??) while reading any last emails and getting my time sheet in.

9:00 p.m.: Sweet dreams—If I don’t go to bed early, the chances of making it to the gym decreases exponentially.

There you have it—a day in the life a Senior Account Manager. Now that you have seen and know more about what is the role of an account manager, come meet our full account team. And if you want to learn more about other roles at LoSasso, check out a day in the life of a web developer.
