While I am not an iPhone owner, even I can appreciate the hilarity and genius of this new application. 

Wired reported on the new application called Email ‘N Walk.  “Fire up the app on your iPhone (this doesn’t work with the iPod Touch) and it overlays a transparent email window over a live view coming in from the camera. Effectively, this lets you look at the screen and compose your masterpiece while simultaneously watching the road ahead.”

This application is free and real (I borrowed my colleague’s iPhone just to be sure).  If you have a tendency to text while walking or if you just want a good laugh, you should definitely check out this application!

We all knew that Twitter was “taking off”, but who would have expected tweets from space?! Sorry, the puns are just too easy.  Mashable is calling Astronaut Mike Massimino’s tweets, “One giant leap for Twitterkind.”  His first tweet read, “From orbit: Launch was awesome!! I am feeling great, working hard, & enjoying the magnificent views, the adventure of a lifetime has begun!”

Mike is on a maintenance mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope.  According to Mashable, “with the blessing of NASA, Massimino’s tweets will serve to enlighten his 234,240 followers and add a layer of transparency that we’ve yet to behold.”

Mashable reports that Murphy-Goode is offering a social media dream job.  This Sonoma County winery is looking for someone to come live at the winery and learn all about winemaking.  He/she will then Tweet, Facebook, blog, etc about their experience.  This six month position will pay $10,000/month!

In order to apply applicants must fill out an application and submit a one minute video by June 5.

Interestingly, the applicant who is hired is not the only “winner” in this contest.  Just think of the publicity this will bring for Murphy-Goode. 

Mashable compares this stunt to the Tourism Queensland competition .  In this competition the winner would be paid $100,000 for six months of blogging from the Barrier Reef.   The contest brought a lot of media attention to Australia and is credited with helping increase tourism.
